What an example, Bob! Drives it all home, doesn't it?

 D.S.I.P. Research

Group:    I think I have done enough on the theory of D.S.I.P.  henceforth I will just be picking up examples from play and point out that D.S.I.P. theory comes in handy. Here is a hand offered by Tom to show that D.S.I.P. works at high level. Tom playing with the Butcher in Thurs nite IMPS tonight. Tom holds Jxxxxx AKQxx Ax void  . The auction goes 1♣ by Ray Grace and 3♣ by his partner. Tom bids 4♣ and Butcher bids 4and the RHO opponent bid 5♣ . With the opponents bidding his void and he has the 6th spade Tom bids 5 which goes one down for –100 .

In D.S.I.P. theory he doubles saying he wants to bid 5 really badly but he has defense. Here is Butchers hand Qxx xx xxx AQJ8x . He passes the double of course for +1100 and a 1200 swing.
