Evaluation - Validation Part II
PITBULLS:
O.K. I have advocated
three more general concepts . 2/1
not a game force if the suit is rebid . I like the idea of minimum equal level conversion
with takeout , re-opening and balancing doubles. Further , for slam bidding , I like the Italian way of Q bidding with
the “serious 3NT” . Lets see how this compares with the World Class experts :
2/1 is game force with systemic sequences
( either or bids and relays ) . No mention of equal level conversion . Of
course he plays the Italian way of Q bidding
( he invented it ) .
2/1 forcing to game over a major only
. Plays equal level conversion & Serious 3NT ( they invented it ) . Q bids
can be either 1St or 2nd round control.
Hamman-Soloway
2/1 game forcing over a major unless
suit rebid . Some special sequences. 1♦-2♣ forcing to game unless ♣’s
rebid. Equal level conversion with their
take out doubles. In general Q bidding not strongest slam try . No mention of 2Nd
round Q bids on their card.
2/1 game force except for 1♠-2♥
which is forcing to 3♥. Q
bids ( mixed 2nd & 1st round ) . No mention of equal
level conversion on their card.
2/1 Game force . Q bids are either 1st
or 2nd round control . Play last train Q bidding . No mention of
equal level conversion.
2/1 Game force. 1♠-3♥
invitational with hearts. Q bids
equal 2nd round & 1st round . No mention of equal
level conversion.
2/1 Game force 1♦-2♣ not game force if clubs
rebid . 1♠-3♥ invitational with hearts. No mention of Q bid
style or equal level conversion.
Branco-Thoma
2/1 Game force unless responder
rebids suit. Q bidding style and equal level conversion not mentioned on their
card.
Auken-Arnim
2/1 game force only 2C (art) over a
major . 1st and 2nd round Q equally . Serious 3NT . Equal
level conversion not mentioned.
Looks like in these areas there
is no real consensus on all the issues. Q bid style of showing 2nd
round control is the majority. 2/1 game force seems to be split , equal level
conversion seems to be Meckwell or their team mates.
